Focus Group Meeting 4

The fourth focus group meeting took place in Brussels on 28th November 2011.

Until now GDP growth has resulted in transport growth. However, for achieving the 2050 targets, a decoupling of transport growth and GDP growth is imperative. The 2011 White Paper on transport assumes a decoupling for the next decades. In this focus group meeting this issue will be discussed in more detail. Is it likely that transport growth and GDP growth decouple, and if so, how could this be achieved? In addition, alternative paths of economic and welfare growth in relation to the long term GHG reduction targets for transport will be discussed. This session starts from the draft results of Task 4 of the ongoing project.
